Yishan Zhuang started her career as a lighting designer in Beijing after she received a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts & Sculpture. She came to New York to earn her Master’s degree in Lighting Design from Parsons the New School for Design. She interned for CBBLD and worked at Renfro Design Group before joining Lumen Architecture in 2020.
Yishan considers working with light as fascinating as working with other art materials such as watercolors and graphite. She believes Lighting has the potential to transform spaces, which requires a strong combination of hard work and experience to bring concepts to fruition. She is extremely proficient at physical modeling and sketching to express her design intent. Her experience also encompasses landscape, facade, residential, office, and museum projects.
